This watercolour was inspired by a quiet moment of slowing down — the simple ritual of pouring tea and enjoying the calmness that comes with it. I’ve always been drawn to blue and white ceramics, and this patterned teapot immediately caught my eye with its beautiful shapes and delicate detail.
What I loved most was the movement of the pouring tea against the softness of the surrounding washes. The yellow flowers added a gentle warmth and helped balance the cool blues throughout the painting. Rather than focusing on realism, I wanted the work to feel light, loose, and relaxed — almost like a fleeting memory of an afternoon pause.
For me, this painting is really about finding beauty in ordinary moments and everyday objects — the kind of quiet scenes that often bring comfort and familiarity into our homes.
