Eastern Coastline of Tasmania #1

The turquoise waters along Tasmania’s east coast have always completely captivated me. There’s something almost surreal about the way the colours shift — brilliant aqua, deep blue, soft pink reflections, and those unexpected flashes of light across the shoreline.

This painting isn’t about capturing the landscape exactly as it appeared, but more about the feeling of standing there and taking it all in. I wanted the colours to feel vibrant, expressive, and full of movement, almost as though the land and water were glowing.

Sweeping bands of colour and loose painterly marks were my way of expressing the energy and beauty of the coastline — that sense of space, light, and freedom you feel when looking out across the water. For me, this work is really about being completely immersed in the beauty of Tasmania’s east coast and wanting to hold onto that feeling just a little longer.
