Again, it was the water on Tasmania’s east coast that completely drew me in — those incredible turquoise blues moving gently across the shoreline and weaving their way through the sand. There’s something so calming and mesmerising about watching the tide slowly stretch and retreat, leaving these beautiful ribbons of colour and light behind.
In this painting, I wasn’t trying to paint the landscape exactly as it appeared, but rather the feeling of being there — the openness, the fresh salt air, and the way the water seemed to glow against the shoreline. I exaggerated the pinks, aquas, and deep blues to capture that sense of wonder and energy the coast gives me.
The sweeping pathway of water through the sand became the heart of the composition, almost inviting you to step into the scene and wander toward the ocean. For me, this work is about connection to place, light, and those quiet moments where nature feels almost dreamlike in its beauty.
