Gathered Peony and Camellia is part of a series of eight small still-life paintings celebrating the flowers that begin to appear after a long, cold Tasmanian winter.
Gathered from my own garden, the peony and camellia bring together two very different blooms — one soft and abundant, the other open and luminous. Set against strong blues, the pinks and whites create a fresh contrast that captures the colour and renewed energy of the garden as the seasons change.
