I have quite a collection of still life objects that I keep coming back to, and this little bowl is one of my favourites. It’s small and simple, but full of colour and texture. I paired it here with a patterned vase I love and some flowers kindly given to me by our local café.
What I really like in this painting was playing with pattern and colour. My aim was to ground all the textures with the pear sitting in my bowl. I think this holds everything together.
I like the balance between the more structured patterns and the loose, painterly flowers. For me, it’s about taking everyday objects and reimagining them in a way that feels lively, contemporary, and full of lovely joy.
