This painting was created using acrylics and was part of a small series of four works inspired by the spring roses blooming in my garden. Each arrangement had its own personality, but I was especially drawn to the energy of the purple tones against the cool turquoise vase in this piece.
What interested me most was the contrast between the softness of the roses and the boldness of the colour palette. The purples shift from deep violet through to softer lilacs and pinks, catching the light in different ways and creating movement throughout the arrangement. The turquoise vase became a grounding shape within all of that colour and helped bring a sense of freshness and vibrancy to the work.
I paint flowers not so much for botanical perfection, but for the feeling they bring — joy, warmth, colour, and those small seasonal moments that brighten everyday life. This series was really about celebrating that abundance of spring and the simple pleasure of bringing garden flowers inside and painting them while they were still full of life.
