Red wine, cheese and a Red Rose

This art piece is really about the story of the rose. We have lots of rose bushes in the garden, but this one has the most gorgeous deep colours — rich reds and burgundy tones that immediately reminded me of red wine. Once I saw that connection, the wine almost had to become part of the painting too.

The cheese and glass of red felt like the perfect companions to finish the scene and make it feel complete. I think the warm ruby colours echo through the painting — from the petals to the wine to the shadows — giving everything this rich, cosy atmosphere.
